Of all Trump’s crazy, nonsensical ravings on Truth Social, his post about Davy Crockett and Jasmine Crockett gets my vote as the craziest and most nonsensical.
The post has to be seen to be believed. In fact, we had to check twice even after seeing it, just to be sure.
WTAF is he talking about? For one thing, there is the obvious fact that the congresswoman from Texas is Black and that Davy Crockett was white. Then there’s the fact that the image the 79-year-old Trump posted was not an actual photo of the famous frontiersman but the actor Fess Parker playing Daniel Boone.
For some inexplicable reason, Trump also included Parker’s rendition of The Ballad of Davy Crockett to go with his post.
But the most inexplicable thing of all is Trump’s adulation of Congresswoman Crockett as having “Great Success as a Politician.” When she announced her entrance into the Texas Senate race, in December, he called her “a low-IQ person” and “a gift to Republicans.” Far from being the great political figure he now calls her, he said then, “I can’t even believe she’s a politician, actually.”
Has he had a drastic change of heart about Rep. Crockett? Mixed her up with some other politician? Decided that her distant relative Davy makes up for all the failings he once saw? Did he forget that yesterday was April Fool’s Day? Or maybe - and this gets my vote - Trump has lost his last marble.
And did I mention how crazy it is that in the middle of a war and an economic crisis our president is focused on – well, who knows?
Rep. Crockett has responded:
Bluesky is having a good laugh at Trump’s expense, too:
