Coming directly from yet another leak in Donald Trump's rapidly sinking boat, the Wall Street Journal has now revealed that the President sought out advice on launching an all-out attack against Iran in an effort to dismantle the country's nuclear program and force a change in their regime. According to the report, he was told multiple times that it was flat-out a bad idea. As we're all painfully aware by now, he blatantly ignored those warnings and sent himself careening down the path of no return that this country is on now.
The Journal obtained details surrounding an Oval Office meeting that took place in February of this year, just days before Donald Trump would officially launch an all-out war with Iran with Israel by his side.
In that meeting, then-National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard told Donald Trump in no uncertain terms that if he were to initiate a conflict with the Middle East, Iran would immediately close the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off a critical shipping route that would spark dire chaos in oil and energy not just in the US, but around the entire world. She further warned the President that killing Iran's supreme leader would only serve to catapult a new leader in their place that would undoubtedly push even more vehemently for Tehran's acquisition of nuclear weapons.
She quite literally told him so, and she wasn't the only one.
Multiple top military officials gave the President countless warnings in the same vein -- absolutely no good could come from a war with Iran. All Trump would accomplish by launching the conflict was death, destruction, and a severely dwindled stockpile of US munitions.
Yet Trump blatantly ignored every single warning given to him and, on February 28th, marched headfirst and headstrong into a joint military attack against Iran with Israel in an operation codenamed Epic Fury.
Every single one of those warnings rapidly came to fruition.
Trump started this war under an assumption that he made very clear to the public -- he was the very best war-ender in the whole, wide world, and this conflict would be over in a matter of a few short weeks, before Americans even really knew it started.
Now, we are well into the sixth month of Donald's conflict with Iran, with absolutely no discernible end in sight. Iran has repeatedly flouted any attempts at peace negotiations, even going so far as to break a memorandum of understanding before the ink had even dried. The Strait of Hormuz remains inaccessible and under divided and contemptuous control; Americans are suffering to death under the economic ramifications of the conflict, and Donald Trump has accomplished nothing more than centering himself as Bush 2.0.
Speaking with the Journal, Deputy Vice President at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Eric Brewer, said, "This was all predictable and predicted. You can draw a straight line from the fact that the war was launched without any clear political objective to the mishandled diplomacy in trying to end it."
But it seems the President was too concerned with riding the high of his initial small victory when Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff informed him on the very first day of his conflict, during a Mar-a-Lago fundraising event, that Israel had killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
That was it for the President. That's all it took to dive headfirst, blinders securely in place, down the path of no return.
According to inside sources, Trump immediately wanted the news shared with the people gathered at his fundraiser, prompting a raucous round of applause for himself, with sources saying that the President "crossed his arms and puffed out his chest" while basking in the praise of all his sycophants.
That was the first and last praise he would earn.
Once he was in, Trump had no way out. The Strait was closed, the war was dragging on endlessly, and Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, began to blow up his phone, urging an end to this conflict.
Americans quickly began to suffer under crushing fuel prices, and 18 US servicemembers paid for Trump's ignorance with their lives, leading high-level Republicans to start warning the President that this war was about to cost him the midterms and, very likely, his presidency, in the end.
Frankly, it's the most painful, unsatisfying, and truly terrifying "I told you so" in modern history.
