Fresh off his primary win to become Florida’s Republican gubernatorial candidate, Byron Donalds predictably tried to slither away from responsibility by blaming higher, GOP-caused, health insurance costs on Democrats.

“Look at health care today,” Donalds said accusingly. “That’s Democrat policy under Barack Obama.” Donalds must have forgotten Trump has had nearly six years in office to improve it.

Donalds continued, “What have we seen? Premiums are higher, deductibles are higher. The costs are out of control, and families are struggling as a result.” Then, maybe worried someone might (correctly) think he and his party had something to do with it, Donalds added, “That’s the same Kamala Harris.”

It has been nearly two years since Donald Trump announced he has “concepts of a plan” to improve healthcare for Americans. Yet, despite being back in the White House for more than a year and a half, it could not be clearer that he doesn’t have even a concept, much less a plan, nor does he care.

Instead, Trump, his buddy billionaires and lickspittle Republicans have snatched away almost every bit of Americans’ healthcare they could get their hands on.

In his first term, Trump and his buddies wasted no time doing away with the individual mandate with the known result that premiums would increase for most individual plans. Then, after Obamacare proved to be too popular to repeal, Trump and his cronies came up with another way to kill it: by letting the subsidies expire. Even though they knew premiums would skyrocket as a result. While they were at it, those “pro-lifer” Republicans made life-threatening cuts to Medicaid for the sake of showering billionaires with more tax cuts.

Now that Trump’s policies have already caused millions of Americans to lose their health insurance, with millions more likely to lose it next year, even as Trumpflation has caused gas and grocery prices to skyrocket, the only Republican plan seems to be to blame their own catastrophic messes on Democrats.

Apparently, pointing fingers at Democrats for problems caused by Republicans is Donalds’ official campaign messaging. In addition to repeating his lies about Obamacare, Donalds gaslighted Fox Business viewers with the claim that Democrats have “created the largest inflation this country has ever seen in 50 years.”

Byron Donalds: "When it comes to affordability ... look at healthcare today. That's Democrat policy under Barack Obama.
