The most interesting Senate race in America is a four-way fight in Montana—and the candidate with the best chance to beat Trump's Republican isn't a Democrat. I spoke with the thoughtful, charismatic Seth Bodnar: West Point grad, Green Beret, Rhodes Scholar, former U. of Montana president, and Independent whose campaign has raised ~$4 million.
For this special edition of Amped Up, Seth made many great points. Bodnar, an infantry platoon leader in Iraq in 2003 described stacking up against a wall outside a suspected safe house in the middle of the night, and the question that never came up: What party are you in?
Bodnar took that straight to Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon loyalty tests. “That’s not patriotic. That's not what I fought for. That’s not what my friends died for.” The same passion animated his point on Iran; the GOP abdicated its constitutional war powers out of blind partisanship. It's how you bow to a bloviator, violate the law and lose a war. We recently talked to someone else about just that.
Yes, Bodar's independent. But endorsed by former Senator Jon Tester, Nancy Keenan, former Montana Dem Party chair and past national president of NARAL,17 Democratic members of the Montana state legislature ...you get the picture. Meanwhile, everyone--including Keenan in a public letter--called for the "Democrat" who has, to put it kindly, temperament and fundraising issues, to drop out. She refused.
How would Bodnar make cattle ranchers and farmers a permanent part of the Democratic-independent coalition, reform SCOTUS and go around them to eliminate Citizens United? Go to BAM, read up, and watch the video!
