The Cook Political Report shifted the Kansas Senate race from Solid Republican to Likely Republican, which is a big change.

Headlines blare that the United Methodist minister is the leader of a "mega-church," but that's not the whole story. First, Hamilton is a quiet fighter with a dry wit. He can talk to farmers and union workers and makes a big effort to talk to all voters, not just those who agree with him.

Second, the United Methodist Church (UMC) leans increasingly progressive. At the UMC 2024 General Conference, a vote removed all bans on LGBTQ+ clergy and same-sex marriage. To summarize: United Methodist Church Christians are more of the "love your neighbor" types, not the "Christians" who like to put immigrants in camps. Hamilton, like James Talarico, believes Christians should act more like that guy Jesus.

Kansas Voters Despise Sen. Roger Marshall

Kansas voters despise Senator Roger Marshall with the heat of a thousand suns. Marshall's positions backing President Trump, no matter how crazed or bad it is for Kansans, are the primary reason voters want to kick MAGA Marshall to the curb.

There is also the small detail that the Kansas Senator does not LIVE in the state he is supposed to represent. Marshall lives in FLORIDA.

The man charges Kansas taxpayers to fly from Washington, D.C., to his $1.2 million home.

But in 2025, disapproval for Marshall rose to new levels.

Last year, Marshall held a town hall in rural Oakley, Kansas that went so bad that he fled the meeting! The town hall was slated for hours, but the Kansas Senator ran from his voters after only 40 minutes. Naturally, the Trump-loving MAGA senator blamed planted “Democrat operatives” for the angry questions the Oakley voters asked him. KSN reported that Marshall’s team explained why Marshall literally ran from his constituents:

“Democrat operatives who couldn’t place Oakley, Kansas on a map before today sabotaged a local town hall — even still, Senator Marshall stayed and answered every question that was asked for 45 minutes. Real Kansans overwhelmingly support President Trump’s DOGE initiative, shrinking the size of the federal government, and firing career bureaucrats. Local Oakley citizens had no clue who these people were. Senator Marshall is to be commended for staying as long as he did.”
