It’s yet another example of Donald Trump and his lackeys focusing on fluffing his vanity and the heck with the law, taxpayer money or improving the lives of everyday Americans.

Trump’s tender ego just can’t handle a judge’s order that his name be removed from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled in May that “Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it."

On Thursday, Trump’s devoted lickspittles on the all-loyalist board of the Kennedy Center came up with a scheme to circumvent the judge’s ruling. According to The New York Times, the board voted to act by “all legal means” to inscribe “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump” on the building, underneath the center’s real name.

Besides the judge’s ruling, there is also a federal law that says “no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas,” The Times noted.

To get around that law, the board also voted to honor their beloved felon for bringing the center back “from the brink of disaster,” possibly by naming the center’s grounds the “President Donald J. Trump Plaza,” The Times said.

In reality, Trump has brought the Kennedy Center to the brink of disaster and maybe beyond. Ticket sales have plummeted and artists have refused to perform there since the MAGA brigade took it over. I know I am not the only one to suspect that its sudden unpopularity is the real reason Trump wants to close it for two years.

The Trump puppets also approved Trump’s plan to close the main building so that his “renovations” can go forward. It’s not clear if marble armrests are still part of the plan but you can bet your Trump Watch that the results will be as gaudy and tasteless as everything else he does and probably as shoddy and corrupt, too.

“Both decisions will be subject to the scrutiny of the judge who, in response to a lawsuit from a Democratic lawmaker, found that the board had been ‘derelict’ in considering the closure plan before approving it originally,” The Times noted.

Just in case none of that is disturbing enough, Trump’s “renovations” are set to cost more than double the $257 million Congress appropriated, Andrea Thompson reported. They are now estimated at $560 million. So far. That’s not counting all the resources spent on Trump’s appeals over the ruling against renaming the center in his honor.
