President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform over the weekend with a less-than-humble brag about his "great poll numbers" -- which certainly isn't unusual for the Narcissist-In-Chief, if it weren't for the fact that these particular poll numbers are apparently invisible.
His Saturday afternoon post read, "Great Poll Numbers. Thank You!!! President DJT."
That's it. No image. No link. No parchment delivered by a carrier pigeon. Nothing that actually shows these mysterious "great" poll numbers that he's referring to -- likely because his real poll numbers are currently swirling down the drain in a new all-time low.
In fact, on the same day he claimed victory over these "great" invisible poll numbers, the New York Times released his real numbers, painting a harrowing picture about the American public's true feelings about Donald J. Trump.
According to the Times, based on an average taken from dozens of recent polls, Donald Trump is currently boasting a whopping 59% disapproval rating, a 3% increase from the start of his war with Iran, while his approval rating has dropped from 41% to 38% in the same time frame.
Statistician and political analyst Nate Silver took aim at Donnie's ugly new numbers in his Friday Breakdown, noting that the President is currently sitting at the lowest approval rating of his entire political career.
After rebounding slightly earlier in the month, Donald Trump’s net approval rating has now hit a new second term low of -20.6. His disapproval rating is dangerously close to breaking 60 percent, while just 21 percent of Americans strongly approve of the job he’s doing.
At this point in Trump’s first term, his net approval rating was 9.3 points higher at -11.3. In fact, Trump’s net approval rating is now lower than at any point in his first term. Back then, he bottomed out at -19 after January 6th.
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten took his own shots at Trump's dismal ratings, pointing specifically at the Iran war and the miserable Trump-era economy as the source of Donald's rapid downfall.
First urging the President to pick up the phone and call an American citizen at random to get their true thoughts and feelings on his chosen war with Iran, Enten then turned his attention to the economic state of this country under Trump's purview, stating, "I went back through the history books… no President before President Trump had a negative 50 point or worse net approval rating on inflation."
I'm not so sure Trump realizes that simply saying things does not, in fact, make them even remotely true.
