Given the rate at which Donald Trump humiliatingly and spectacularly fails at almost everything he does, you'd think he'd have grown a bit more accustomed to those failures being exposed. Yet here we are, decades into his series of never-ending f*ck-ups, and he's still losing his ever-loving mind every single time he gets called out.
The Center for American Progress (CAP) recently released a new analysis, in which they found that the Trump Administration's attempt at a widespread crime crackdown in the US -- specifically targeting large, left-leaning cities such as Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. -- was actually completely and wholly useless, costing the American taxpayers upwards of $1.7 billion while garnering almost no discernible effect on crime rates.
CAP's report accuses Donald Trump of "exploiting" the fact that violent crime and murder were already on a significant decline in these cities when he targeted them with "extreme interventions," including his infamous deployment of National Guard troops against United States citizens.
Chandler Hall, the associate director for public safety at CAP, discussed the telling analysis during a recent interview with C-SPAN's Washington Journal and said, "We looked at what were the effects of the National Guard deployments, not just in D.C., but in all cities in which the National Guard were deployed. What we find is that across multiple cities, multiple data sets, and multiple time windows, we find no effect that violent crime actually did change post the National Guard deployments in any of the cities."
Trump, of course, quickly caught wind of Hall's interview surrounding CAP's analysis -- because he clearly has nothing better to do than doomscroll the internet in search of people saying mean things about him -- and immediately went headfirst off the deep end.
In a torturously rambling, 190-word post on his floundering Truth Social platform, Trump set his sights on Hall, specifically, while casting a wider net with an open threat to file suit against the Center for American Progress for daring to expose his $1.7 billion waste of taxpayer money as American citizens struggle to afford gas and groceries.
"Chandler Hall, representing, on Television, the foolish Center for American Lack of Progress, stated that adding the National Guard to Cities, including our now Great Again, Washington, D.C., had ‘NO impact on Crime.’ How crazy is that," Trump kicked off his late-night Truth Social post.
"Hall was met with furious dissent. The report is just another Radical Left SCAM, as are the people who fund this gaggle of Lunatics, including George Soros, Bill and Melinda Gates, Google, Apple, Visa, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, WellsFargo, Bank of America, Walmart, Toyota, T-Mobile, and NBC Universal. Foreign support includes the Embassy of Japan, the Korea Foundation, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (Taiwan), and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates,” he continued. “The Dumocrats love it, and are against anything ‘TRUMP.’ These people, and others like them, are so bad for our Country. Their stated course is anything to hate or demean ‘TRUMP.’"
He went on to declare that CAP would be "met with a lawsuit, which is being drawn now."
"I am also strongly considering adding some of the contributors to this Fake Organization. Crime is way down since I took Office, and they know it. Liars, at this level, must be held accountable!" he raged, before finally concluding with his signature sign-off, "President DONALD J. TRUMP."
To make this whole matter a bit funnier still, Hall's appearance on the somewhat obscure Washington Journal program, hosted by C-SPAN, aired at 9:25 a.m. ET Monday morning, a period in which Trump's public White House schedule just so happened to list him as participating in "Executive Time" -- which apparently translates to "scouring for things to be butthurt about."
