I truly don't think there's anything Donald Trump hates more than getting trolled... Except getting trolled by a Canadian.
Last September, US President Donald Trump made an appearance at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he delivered a speech that has been categorized as his most significant public address on foreign policy to date. However, in the wake of that appearance, Trump didn't sharpen his focus on foreign policy; instead, he chose to focus on a series of events he firmly believed were full-blown sabotage, including a glitch in his teleprompter and a faulty escalator.
In a Truth Social post published the day after his U.N. address, Trump went ham, declaring himself the victim of "not one, not two, but three very sinister events," adding in a complaint about the hall's sound system supposedly being shut off in the midst of his speech in addition to the teleprompter and escalator ordeals.
In his post, he viciously demanded that the U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres launch an immediate investigation into the grievous sabotage against him, declaring that anyone deemed responsible for his embarrassments "should be arrested."
The U.N. literally couldn't have cared less about Trump's whines if they tried. Suffice it to say, no investigations or arrests came to fruition.
Now, nearly a year later, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is using the ridiculous U.N. debacle to poke a little fun at America's biggest embarrassment.
During a housing policy news conference in Toronto this week, Carney experienced a technical glitch in his teleprompter and used the moment to crack a brutal joke at Trump's expense.
"I would like to inform you that the teleprompter has ceased to function," Carney told the crowd. "Unlike a certain world leader, I do not view this as a conspiracy," garnering a round of raucous laughter from everyone.
Canada's Carney is no stranger to beef with America's Trump, as ties between the two nations remain fraught under Donald's unhinged leadership. Trump has repeatedly attempted to drown our northern neighbors in an unending onslaught of tariffs while openly threatening to turn Canada into the "51st State" of America. Carney turned his whole campaign last year into one massive troll against Donald Trump with the slogan, "Never 51."
Just last night, during a speech in Las Vegas, Trump set his sights on Canada yet again -- though it remains unclear whether or not he was made aware of Carney's mockery that took place earlier that day -- when he told the crowd at Red Rock Resort, "Canada's nasty. They are. They’re nasty. I love the people, but they’re nasty. Nasty leadership."
