Donald Trump seems to finally be coming to terms with just how monumentally he screwed up by launching a useless war with Iran that he now can't seem to find a way out of, as Iran makes a fool of him at every turn.
Despite his incessant claims that he would launch and end a war with Iran within a matter of days that would see the dissolution of Iran's nuclear capabilities, Trump's war with the country is now raging well into its sixth month, without so much as a semblance of an end in sight, leading the President to privately confess to his White House officials that he's considering abandoning the nuclear agreement requirement in an effort just to end this damn thing before it finishes ending him.
According to US officials who recently spoke with The Wall Street Journal, Trump has spent recent weeks telling his closest aides that he would be willing to accept an agreement with Tehran, in which they fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz without reaching a deal over Iran's nuclear program. It's important to note here that the Strait was fully open, unaffected, and treated as an open international waterway before Trump launched his war, the purpose of which was largely to dissolve Iran's nuclear capabilities. So, should Trump make this concession in an effort to end this conflict that's destroying his second presidential term, he would quite literally be right where he started before he ever decided to poke a stick at Iran.
In an effort to make his potential plan sound a bit less ridiculous, Trump has been privately arguing that Iran's nuclear program is basically a non-issue, as the country would likely be incapable of rebuilding its nuclear capabilities within the remainder of his term because the US successfully destroyed three of its major nuclear sites last year. He further argues that US intelligence is capable of detecting any efforts Iran makes to rebuild those facilities or to secretly develop a bomb, claiming that the threat of additional US strikes hanging over its head would serve as a deterrent to Tehran.
Officials claim that if Iran's nuclear ambitions can be managed and the Strait of Hormuz restored to functionality, Trump would likely extend the ceasefire indefinitely, a move that would essentially leave the conflict in limbo.
But Iran isn't making it easy for Trump to pull off a quiet end to this mess.
According to Iranian state media, Iran's Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, recently went public with a series of demands for the United States if the Strait is to be reopened, including a permanent end to the war, the withdrawal of US forces from the country, a sweeping lift of sanctions and the naval blockade, the release of all frozen Iranian assets, and, the true icing on this dumpster fire cake, war reparations paid to Iran from the US.
This list of demands came as Trump continued to run his mouth publicly, unleashing a series of unhinged strike threats while simultaneously suggesting that an agreement was close and the war was almost over. He has spent the last several days telling reporters that a deal was "imminent" and went so far as to share an article over the weekend titled, "Donald Trump Won the Iran War."
Midterm elections are rapidly approaching, and Americans are suffering under the economic pressure of his war as Donald's poll numbers reach embarrassing new lows. It seems that he has abandoned his hopes of some massive, spectacular show of force and is now prepared to simply back away slowly with his tail tucked between his legs as Iran hands his ass to him on a silver platter.
