Earlier this year, I reported how Trump's favorite brand of shoes, Florsheim, sued the government to get their tariff money back after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump imposed them illegally.
Florsheim has hit the tariff rebate jackpot and have their hands out again for more:
Weyco, which makes such shoe brands as Florsheim, Nunn Bush, and Stacy Adams, received an $18.6 million tariff refund, plus $700,000 in interest income, during the second quarter.
That's according to the company's latest quarterly earnings report.
Weyco is seeking another $1.2 million in tariff refunds which "have not yet been assigned a claim submission timeline," said the Aug. 4 report.
Keep in mind that they were also passing the cost of the tariffs on to their customers, including Trump, making a lot of that tariff rebate pure profit.
I still think that it's wrong for Florsheim to pass the cost to the customers but not do anything in return after they get their money back, but don't expect this administration to do a thing about it. At this point, they're just happy if Trump doesn't drool on himself during one of his "long blinks."
To make matters worse, Florsheim is just one of the multitude of companies that are doing this double dip. Like the average American wasn't already being crushed by Trumpflation, now we are paying twice for these companies to have record profits, all because a senile old man decided to have a temper tantrum.
