While trying to defend Trump's $5000 bribery plan to get the country to vote for Republicans, Mike Johnson eluded that Susan Collins was a Democrat for criticizing Trump.
Speaker Johnson had a rough morning trying to defend the indefensible as he made the rounds on the Sunday morning talk show circuit.
Meet The Press host Kristen Welker posted Sen. Susan Collins' criticisms on the screen and asked Johnson to respond.
WELKER: I want to read for you something that Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine said about these $5,000 checks.
She wrote, quote, tax and spending decisions should be made based on the needs of the American people and the state of the economy. They should not appear to be tied to election results.
The president said that these checks are contingent on election results. Is this an attempt to buy votes?
JOHNSON: Of course not.
Remember, the Democrats who are making that claim are the same ones who gave out COVID checks and and all sorts of stimulus checks.
WELKER She's a Republican. Susan Collins is a Republican.
Trump gave out COVID stimulus checks too. Johnson must have forgotten.
Biden didn't put a contingency of voting only for Democrats on his stimulus packages. They benefited all Americans, regardless of party affiliation or voting preferences.
Johnson was so flustered he had no coherent answer.
"Yeah, I understand that. I understand. Sure, sure. But that's right," Johnson said. "And so is the president."
Yeah, so fucking what.
"He's the lead Republican in the country and what he is articulating there is the obvious truth that you have more money in your pockets with Republicans in control than with Democrats," Johnson lied.
That makes no fucking sense whatsoever.
Trump is trying to buy votes, which is illegal.
Period.
