FBI Director Kash Patel has once again conclusively demonstrated he is unfit and unqualified for his job. The fact that he was not fired long ago speaks volumes about Donald Trump’s unfitness, too.
In addition to Patel's reported drunkenness, neglect of duties and shocking incompetence, he seems more interested in protecting his image than Americans.
The latest evidence comes from a telling anecdote via The Telegraph. The article reported that Patel ordered FBI agents to spend their important, taxpayer-funded work time on rebutting a tweet.
“The post, shared by an account called ‘Retard Finder’ with the username ‘ifindretards’, included a picture of Mr Patel alongside the caption: ‘His retard rating just went to all-time highs. Congratulations Kash,’” The Telegraph said.
Patel reportedly told the FBI’s assistant director for public affairs to find and rebut all such posts. He was not dissuaded by Assistant Director Ben Williamson’s advice that it “would look bad” for Patel, that the post had not gone viral, and that it appeared to have been shared by a bot account. Instead, Patel insisted that the FBI should spend time bolstering his ego because “people see it and need to be seeing our stats”.
Critics claim Patel “is unusually preoccupied by his personal image,” The Telegraph noted.
Ya think? As we’ve previously reported, Patel filed - and lost - a $10 million lawsuit against a blogger who called him a “googly-eyed Kremlin b*tch.” He also sued former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence Frank Figliuzzi for defamation after Figliuzzi said Patel is shirking his duties so much that “there are reports that daily briefings to him have been changed from every day to maybe twice weekly.” Patel lost that suit, too. There is also the more publicized $250 million lawsuit against The Atlantic after it revealed colleagues were worried about his alleged drinking problem.
Here’s a suggestion for Patel: If you are concerned about your public image, maybe you should start acting like you're fit for the job of FBI Director instead of pulling $75,000 taxpayer-paid stunts like this:
In any event, Patel is slated to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week. Andrea Thompson reminded us of his very unprofessional meltdown during last year’s visit to the committee. She also pointed out that committee Democrats have already signaled they are not the teensiest bit intimidated by his previous outburst.
