Apparently, the Trump name-branding project has found yet another historic Washington landmark to target, and this one is a doozy given the building's history.
According to a report from MS NOW, administration officials have been discussing ways to put Donald Trump’s name on Ford’s Theatre—the historic site where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865. The theater is reportedly among a list of government sites officials have considered for a Trump-name makeover.
The reported idea comes as Trump continues his fight to put his name on the Kennedy Center, despite a federal judge ruling that the name change was unlawful without congressional approval.
A former administration official told the outlet that officials understand flattery is one way to get on Trump’s good side, suggesting that renaming government properties could be seen as a way to curry favor with the president.
However, there is one small problem with the Ford’s Theatre idea: it would apparently require an act of Congress. Sounds familiar, huh? And the White House is flatly denying the report, calling the story “completely false,” while the Interior Department also said it was not true.
Still, the fact that Ford’s Theatre reportedly made its way onto the list is quite the addition to Trump’s ongoing effort to put his name on Washington landmarks.
Earlier this month, Trump basically acknowledged that the grand construction projects he is pushing around Washington are monuments to himself. It's all about him, and his enablers are all too happy to feed his enormous narcissistic ego.
It's only a matter of time before Trump signs an executive order with his Sharpie requiring Americans to hang portraits of him in their homes. Don't tell him that's a law in North Korea, OK? I don't want to give him any ideas.
