Donald J. Trump insisted on Truth Social that the only "guardrail" AI needs is him — a President he describes, in his own words, as high-IQ, strong, and smart. That's nothing new for the Stable Genius™, who just this past week deemed anyone who doesn't want massive data centers in their backyard "stupid."
He credits his administration with reining in AI companies from doing anything bad, singling out Anthropic's Dario Amodei for daring to sound cautious, which Trump somehow dismisses as an act.
He then claims sweeping criminal and regulatory leverage over AI firms, then pivots to accusing unnamed parties of running a shadowy campaign against AI and data centers—one that, he says, solely benefits China. He closes by declaring the U.S. is winning the AI race and warning "conspiracy theorists," "traitors," and "leakers," without naming anyone in particular.
"The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades! " he wrote. "The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, “things,“ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” - and we will continue to do so!"

"There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China. WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! So, his alleged "guardrails" aren't working then? Who could have predicted that!
Trump himself has been on the offensive against the backlash — publicly warning that communities opposing data centers will end up in "poverty, crime and squalor," which puts today's Truth Social post in a slightly different light: he's not just defending Anthropic-style AI companies abstractly, he's also actively fighting a losing PR battle over the physical infrastructure those companies need. That's a pretty rich vein for a sequel piece — the framing of him as the sole "guardrail" AI needs sits oddly next to polling showing the public doesn't trust the infrastructure at all, regardless of who's "controlling" it.
Trump's rhetoric on this has been getting sharper as he continues to simp for AI centers. However, even his sympathetic voters are turning against him on this wildly unpopuar issue. At the same time, he escalates into his "blame someone else for the backlash" messaging—which perfectly lines up with his need for a villain in today's post (the "SICK conspiracy," China, "leakers") rather than engaging with the actual water-bill-and-noise complaints driving the opposition.
