Wannabe-King Donald Trump can’t handle it when people don’t do what he wants. Never mind that the American system of checks and balances was specifically designed to keep important people like Federal Reserve chairs independent.
On Tuesday, Conover Kennard reported on the likelihood that the Fed would raise interest rates on Wednesday. She noted that the hike is aimed at combating inflation, which has hit the U.S. hard, especially energy costs.
Conover also predicted a Truth Social meltdown once Fed chair and Trump appointee Kevin Warsh dared to go against Trump’s dictate desire for a rate cut. Instead, the Fed voted 12-0 to “raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to a target range of 3.75%-4%, its first increase since 2023.”
Even worse for Trump’s fragile fee-fees, the Fed signaled another rate hike could be coming.
Sure enough, President Cry Baby started howling in no time. He also engaged in a child’s game of make-believe, pretending that he is the boss of the Fed: “LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST!” Trump roared on his social media platform.
Apparently, he just can’t handle the fact that the Fed doesn’t care what he tries to command them to do. He probably can't understand anyone acting in the best interests of the country.
If Trump really cared about lowering costs, rather than boosting his ego, he would focus on ending his stupid, unpopular war against Iran, which has caused fuel prices to soar. Ditto for focusing on ending his stupid, unpopular trade war with Canada and his stupid, unpopular tariffs elsewhere.
But no, Trump would rather issue phony orders and pretend to be king rather than doing the job he was elected to do.
