They pretend they love Christians until they disagree with them. Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall, who looks like he's trying his best to lose his race these days, made an appearance on Newsmax this Tuesday, and decided to go after his opponent's congregation at his Methodist church as being too "woke" because they don't hate trans people enough to suit him.
He also went nuts, along with host Rob Finnerty, over comments by Adam Hamilton about white privilege and proved that it's the two of them who are completely out of touch with the way they tried to twist Hamilton's words in response.
Here's the entire pathetic exchange:
FINNERTY: Here's another one from Adam Hamilton, another one of his greatest hits. Take a look.
HAMILTON: I grew up in a way that I'm blind to certain things in our society. I just am. And I have certain benefits by virtue of being educated, white and male. Right? And we don't like to hear that, especially white folks don't like to hear that. [...]
When I'm stopped by the police, I'm never afraid that they're going to pull a gun on me. [...]
Before I can do anything to help anyone else, I have to have a conversion. I have to repent.
FINNERTY: This guy's nuttier than James Talarico. We've got to repent now for being white.
Guess what, Senator, we're both white! I can't control that. It's just the way I was born. I can't control it. It's an immutable characteristic.
MARSHALL: Yeah, well, the privilege we were born with was hardworking parents, a faith and belief in our community, this concept of hard work that leads to merit as well. That's what we were privileged to be born into in Kansas. One or both of your children were born in Kansas as well. That was a great privilege.
This concept of hard work, of wanting a good job, of raising our children on traditional values, that was the privilege we were given.
Adam Hamilton is the leader of the woke generation. And by the way, this is a guy that led the split in the Methodist Church.
One out of five Methodist churches left the denomination because of his woke attitudes, just like you're seeing here. We haven't even talked about his transgender issues yet.
FINNERTY: Yeah, well, okay. I think we have that. We're out of time, but I'm going to play it because you brought it up. Take a look, Senator.
HAMILTON: I don't think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I think, you know, I look at people and I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself. And so I'm going to love the trans person, as well as the straight person, as well as, you know, male or female. I just think we have to do better than picking on small groups.
FINNERTY: And he calls himself a moderate. He founded this big church outside Kansas City, I think in Leawood, and that's the biggest city in that region, Kansas City, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri.
Is that part of the problem? Like big blue-city voters swinging a red state blue?
MARSHALL: Yeah, these are very wealthy people. They're out of touch. They match that persona, that liberal persona of today's Democrat Party, big-government socialists.
They're going to tell you what you should teach your kids at school. They're perfectly fine with boys in girls' sports. They know better than you do, and it goes back to Fauci. You have to take this shot. You can't go to school. It is big-government socialism all over again.
How this guy managed to pivot from "woke" to pretending he said anything about boys in girls' sports to whackaloon COVID anti-vaxxer conspiracy bullshit is beyond me, but he managed.
The polls are still basically tied, which wouldn't be the case if we lived in a sane country.
